Filtering Reality

I suspect that the way the brain works is like a filter or a radio station that vibrates at a certain frequency. When the brain vibrates, it "tunes in" to reality. When you have a radio signal, what you need to do is demodulate the signal by multiplying it by a signal at the same frequency and using the coherence function. I suspect the brain might work in a similar way. When you take certain hallucinogenic drugs or enter into altered states of consciousness, the stations or modes that you are tuned into change. It's like the frequencies that your brain accepts become enlarged, or you tune into a different part of reality that would normally get filtered out. Under the influence of these drugs, the way the neurons inside the brain fire becomes less "rigid" allowing for connections that would normally not be allowed. The work of Donald Hoffman mentions how a brain that evolves to survive wouldn't necessarily evolve to see true reality. This could explain why our brains have evolved to somehow balance entropy, minimizing surprise and randomness in order to survive while also being able to adapt to the environment.According to his work, the reality we inhabit is just like an icon in a computer, it doesnt represent the machinery that is behind. In this way, it is like the brain "orders" reality; it shapes it to make sense.

The Hemispheres

If you read old neuroscience, you will learn that our brain is made up of two hemispheres. The left hemisphere contains the parts of the brain that deal with language and rationality (our conscious observer), while the right hemisphere is associated with perception (our subconscious). Now, this view of the brain might be outdated by now, but there are still some interesting parallels in occult topics. For the Masons, the right side of the brain is often represented by the sun and masculine energies, while the left side is commonly represented by the moon and the feminine energies that shape reality. The two hemispheres are connected in the middle. The left hemisphere filters the information that reaches the right side of the brain and dominates it. Some theories suggest that, in the past, the two hemispheres of the brain were not fully connected by the corpus callosum. If this theory is true, maybe the ancient Greeks heard voices in their heads that they attributed to the gods, when in fact, it was their right hemisphere communicating with the left hemisphere. Moreover, in certain epilepsy patients, the fibers connecting the two hemispheres are severed to alleviate seizures. Remarkably, these individuals sometimes experience episodes in which one side of their body does not agree with what their conscious mind wants. The left hand will rebel against what the conscious person wants to do. They will throw things and act unruly. Some experiments have even tried asking and probing the right hemisphere with questions, and interestingly, what it answers does not always align with what the conscious observer wants. Kabbalah seeks ways to balance the two hemispheres and help them work together in harmony.
